Toys “R” Us® and Babies “R” Us® will reopen in their new location May 24^th- 26^th at Magnolia Park at 1025 Woodruff Road in Greenville. In conjunction with the grand opening, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund®, a public charity affiliated with Toys“R”Us, Inc., has awarded a $10,000 grant to Make-A-Wish® South Carolina to support wish fulfillment in the Greenville-area communities.  Make-A-Wish® South Carolina will use the wish fulfillment to grant the wish of a local South Carolina wish child. 

“Thanks to our relationship with Toys “R” Us and the Toys “R” Us Children’s Found, Make-A-Wish® South Carolina continues to grant wishes all across the state.  One of our most popular wishes, especially for children who cannot travel, is a shopping spree.  Toys “R” Us continually pulls out the red carpet treatment and goes above and beyond to make our wish child feel like a king or queen.”

Entry fee is $20 per bike and lunch is included with every entry fee.   A lunch of hot dog, slaw, chili, chips and drinks will be available for purchase for non riders.

A Fundraising event benefiting Make-A-Wish® South Carolina

The Reach for the Stars Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at McAlister Square, Greenville, S.C.  The afternoon will be filled with pageantry and fun for everyone. There will be multiple age categories and a People’s Choice Award for all contestants.

This is an opportunity for you to partner with Make-A-Wish®.  You and your company will not only market your brand but also make an impact on children in our community.  We hope you will help celebrate this event as you join with Make-A-Wish® in raising funds to achieve our goal to grant the wish of every eligible child in the Upstate.  More than 400 children are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness each year. In 2012 Make-A-Wish® South Carolina granted the wishes of 142 children.  At an average cost of $6,500 per wish and more than 110 wishes pending, we need your help to make these wishes a reality.

Community support on all levels is very important.  Your involvement helps us bring hope, strength and joy into the lives of each wish child by providing a magical wish experience.  Every dollar raised through the Reach for the Stars Pageant, will grant the wishes of children in the Upstate.  A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions.  For many of these children, it marks a turning point in their fight against their illness.  Since 1984 Make-A-Wish® South Carolina has touched the lives of more than 2,100 children and their families by offering the thrill of an once-in-a-lifetime wish.  Make-A-Wish® provides these children with a life-affirming experience filled with hope and happiness that supports them during their illness and often leads to long-term remission with the chance to enjoy a bright future.

This past holiday season Zaxby’s® of Spartanburg, Duncan, and Gaffney proudly supported Make-A-Wish® South Carolina by helping to grant Bradley’s wish of going to Walt Disney World®.  Not only did Zaxby’s of Spartanburg, Duncan, and Gaffney raise funds for Bradley’s wish by selling paper stars, magnetic stars, and Make-A-Wish bracelets, they also gave Bradley an unforgettable limo tour.  Bradley toured all participating Zaxby’s and enjoyed a different experience at each one.

In total, the local stores in Spartanburg, Duncan, and Gaffney raised over $16,000 for Make-A-Wish South Carolina!  These funds not only helped to grant Bradley’s wish, but wishes from across the state. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s campaign and made this a special experience for both the wish family and Zaxby’s associates.

Come join us for a fun night for all ages.  This charity event includes a spaghetti dinner, theatrical performance by magician John Tudor, and a basketball game between Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputies and Lexington County Fire Services Firefighters.  The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on March 9th, 2013.  The cost is $8 for the dinner, show and basketball game.

Make-A-Wish^® South Carolina would like to invite you to support and walk in this year’s Walk for Wishes^®. Held in Rock Hill South Carolina, this walk will help grant the wishes of 26 children from York, Chester and Lancaster counties.

9:00 a.m. - Check-in, t-shirt and wristband pick-up
9:30- 9:45 a.m. - Warm ups and opening ceremony
10:00 a.m.- Walk begins
11:15 p.m. - “Finish Party” and closing ceremony

The Walk for Wishes^® “Finish Party” is provided for all walkers and sponsors who participated in this year’s walk. Enjoy snacks, kids games, and a closing ceremony.

$15 registration fee for walkers 12 and older

Sarah has jumped through hoops her whole life, almost as many as Aly. Aly, a beautiful mare, was strolling in the field at a farm a few miles down the road from Sarah. Sarah’s family didn’t have proper fencing and equipment to keep Aly at their home. This special 11-year old was diagnosed with a brain tumor right before her 11th birthday. Then had surgery quickly afterwards to remove it.

As Sarah was in her bed at home recovering, she only wanted one thing: to be able to see Aly every morning. “She’s pretty. She’s the best horse ever,” said Sarah. When Make-A-Wish® volunteers met with the family, Sarah immediately knew her one true wish. “This has been very, very hands-on,” Beth, Sarah’s mother, said. “The volunteers have been out here every weekend for the last three weekends helping out and working. We could never have done it without them.” Volunteers worked hard to create a backyard fit for a stallion! Fencing, hay, a lean-to, and jumps were all part of the magical backyard transformation for Aly.

Upon finishing, volunteers organized a horse party to welcome Aly to her new home. Once doctors clear Sarah to ride, she’ll be riding in the pasture behind her home in Aly’s new digs. Sarah said, “Aly is finally home.”
