Make-A-Wish® South Carolina is pleased to announce that Tammy E. Whaley, Chief Communications Officer for the University of South Carolina Upstate, has been elected to the chapter's board of directors.

Tammy E. Whaley possesses a robust background in media relations, integrated and strategic communications, and brand positioning. In her role as a public relations professional, Whaley has proven to be adept at building beneficial relationships and working in collaboration with partners- skills that are highly valued as a nonprofit board member.
Tiller remarked, "Board members are guardians of the mission and have many responsibilities: they are policy-makers, fundraisers, strategic thinkers and ambassadors. I'm excited and profoundly grateful to have a professional as accomplished at Tammy Whaley join our board and move our mission forward."

Whaley graduated from Winthrop University with a BA in Mass Communications and Journalism. A native of Spartanburg, S.C. she has served as the Board Chairman for the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, Board Chairman for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg and President of the Junior League of Spartanburg. Among her many awards and achievements, Whaley has been recognized as a Distinguished Service Leader by the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education and received the Leadership Spartanburg Alumni Association Alumni of the Year Award.
