Wish kid, AJ, Wishes It Forward

AJ then and now
AJ’s wish inspired a family, and then a whole town to grant wishes for local kids.

wishstory

In 2011, AJ received a wish after battling Hodgkin's lymphoma. He wished to go to Walt Disney World®. The wish deeply impacted AJ and his entire family. Shortly after returning home from the inspiring experience, they worked to figure out how they could Wish It Forward so that more families undergoing tremendous struggles with critical illnesses could benefit from the renewed energy and power of hope that comes from a wish. Together, they organized a community concert to benefit Make-A-Wish called the Nashville Songwriter's Benefit.  Greenwood Community Theatre joined in to help and now, six years in, they've created a legacy of giving back in their community.

Their story was recently featured in our publication, Wish Story. Here, we share more from our community partners, extra pictures from the concert and invite you to help support their cause.

Frank:

"When A.J. received his wish it was something that the whole family could do together. We were able to enjoy our time together and start a new chapter in the life of our family. I believe that Make-A-Wish is very affective in accomplishing their mission. I don’t believe you could find a better charity to give your money to, which is why we I certainly hope we continue to grow the Nashville Songwriter Benefit and can continue to raise awareness for Make-A-Wish."

Stephen of Greenwood Community Theatre:

"This year we passed the $15,000 donation mark and my goal is to continue to help that number grow. I am fortunate that I have not needed Make-A-Wish’s services for my family, but I want do my part to make sure that they are there for every family that is referred and this is one way that I can do that."

AJ:

"I am so glad that we have been given the opportunity to do what we do so that we can help provide wishes to other kids. I know that without donations, I would have never been granted my wish. I want to continue to help other kids get their wish."

If you weren't able to attend the concert but still want to help AJ Wish It Forward, you can click here to give. Your gift of any amount makes a difference.
