Make-A-Wish Star Events

The following events are considered “star” events for the following reasons:

  • Are going on at least their 3rd consecutive year
  • Raise approximately $10,000 or more annually

Grande Dunes Pro-Celebrity Classic
The Grande Dunes Pro – Celebrity Classic benefiting Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Carolina brings PGA Professionals, Celebrities and “Friends” together for a weekend of Golf and Entertainment with a Purpose. Held in Myrtle Beach early summer.

Card Benefit/Silent Auction
The Make-A-Wish Card Benefit/Silent Auction is held in November. Tickets are sold for ten dollars each and people are invited to come in groups for card games or board games. Some choose to just hang out! "Big time" refreshments are served. Door Prizes are given. Tickets are sold for the month before the Card Benefit/Silent Auction.

Lindsey’s Miracle Run
5K and family fun day held the first part of November at Broadway in the Beach in Myrtle Beach.  Festival includes children’s activities, food, and entertainment by local dance groups.  The event is held by Lindsey’s Little Miracles and the money raised each year goes to grant the wishes of children in the Greater Grand Strand Area.

International Wine Festival
An upscale street festival that features a Latin band, delicacies from The Cazbah, and 100 different wines from different parts of the world. This event is held the first part of June in downtown Greer.

Freshfields Wine Festival

Wine Festival at Freshfields Village near the entrance to Kiawah Island. Features live music, wines from around the world, and culinary delicacies. Participants receive a commemorative wineglass to use while sampling different wines.

Waves & Wishes 5K
5K race at Folly Beach in late September. Includes food and beverage from Locklears on the pier following the race.

Midlands Wish Classic
Golf Tournament held at the University Club in the Columbia area in the fall.

Doin’ the Charleston
One of the largest street rod festivals in the Southeast is held in Charleston Mid-November. This 3-day festival includes live music, food, an auction, and a car show at the Low Country Fairgrounds.


Applebee’s
Applebee’s continues to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Carolina through a variety of ways. Their fundraising efforts include an in-store campaign held throughout the state (excluding Myrtle Beach and Charleston areas), golf tournaments held in September in Aiken and October in Greenville, and a Breakfast with Santa the first Saturday in December at the Aiken store.  Applebee’s also host “send off” parties and “holiday parities” for wish children and their families throughout the year.

Shakespeare Golf Tournament
Golf Tournament held in Columbia in the fall. Includes a large silent and live auction that features sporting goods.

State Troopers Golf Tournament
Held at Traces Country Club near Florence in the fall. The tournament finale is held Red Bone Alley and includes a steak dinner for all participants and a raffle.

Lake Wylie Wish Ball
Held in the fall at River Hills Country Club on Lake Wylie. This black-tie event includes music, dancing, and auction.

Florence Softball Tournament
This softball Tournament held in September features more than 50 teams from around the Southeast.

For the Kids Golf Classic
Golf Tournament held in memory of Heather Wells who is a former wish child. Held at Golden Hills Golf Course in Lexington and includes a BBQ dinner and silent auction.

Fashion Arts Ball (FAB)
Includes drinks, appetizers, and a fashion show featuring top name designers. This upscale event is hosted at a private oceanfront home in Myrtle Beach the 2nd Thursday in October.

BMW Roadster Homecoming
BMW Roadster owners from around the country rally to the Upstate for a weekend of activities centered around their luxury automobiles. Event is held Memorial Day weekend.
