Cheerleading has appealed to Nicole ever since she saw the movie Bring It On. She loved the uniforms, the music, the energy and the camaraderie it showed. Having her mobility restricted by a nervous system disorder meant she couldn't always be the cheerleader she felt she was inside. So when her wish to be a cheerleader was granted, it was an amazing, uplifting experience.
After enjoying a makeover where she received a special uniform and pom-poms, Coastal Carolina University's cheer team took Nicole under their wing to initiate her into the cheer squad for a men's basketball game. She smiled on the court as she raised her pom-pom's high and cheered along, feeling like part of a team in front of a large roaring crowd.
Afterwards, the team presented Nicole with her participation trophy which put a huge smile on her face. Nicole is sure to treasure the memory of the exciting game. When she's feeling frustrated from medical treatments, being a cheerleader will remind her that she brings a special energy to everyone she sees. The team wouldn't have been the same without her.
