Jadis, 9, has sickle cell disease, which distorts red blood cells into a crescent shape that resembles a sickle and can cause anemia, infections and painful episodes.
Because of her love for shopping, Jadis wished for a shopping spree in Charleston! Jadis’s wish day started on the morning of Saturday, March 23, 2013 with a limo picking up her and her family.
After a short drive to Charleston they arrived at their first stop—Croghan’s Jewel Box. Mary Ann at Croghan's made the day extra special with some glazed donuts and juice. She explained to Jadis about how a diamond is rough when it is found and needs to be polished to sparkle - just like she has had some rough times but with her new necklace, she would sparkle too! She told her to be sure and come back for her engagement ring!
Jadis was given a beautiful diamond butterfly necklace and her mother and grandmother were given gold rice necklaces from Croghan's Jewel Box. They were all very touched with the gifts. The next stop was to Best Buy where she fulfilled her electronic dreams by purchasing a flat screen tv, laptop, ipod, laptop case and a flash drive. Then they moved on to the mall so Jadis could shop for a new wardrobe. She found a perfect dress for Easter, a few Hello Kitty outfits and also found Hello Kitty tennis shoes to go along with her new outfits!
At the end of the day Jadis was tired but couldn’t wait to go home to enjoy her new purchases. She was extremely happy and thankful —she said will never forget the day her wish came true!
