Make-A-Wish® South Carolina was honored with three prestigious awards at the 2015 Make-A-Wish® America Global Conference held in Anaheim, California. Make-A-Wish America awarded the South Carolina chapter the Mission Achievement Award celebrating year-over-year growth in wishes granted. The second honor was the Fundraising Achievement Award to mark the accomplishment of year-over-year growth in public support. Finally, the third award was a second Fundraising Achievement Award proclaiming the South Carolina chapter one of only eleven chapters nationwide to experience more than 20% year-over-year growth in public support.
Make-A-Wish South Carolina experienced an incredible journey over the last year, granting more wishes than ever before in the chapter’s 30-year history. In fiscal year 2015, Make-A-Wish South Carolina granted 176 wishes for South Carolina children with life-threatening medical conditions.
In addition, the chapter strengthened its relationships with community partners and developed strong signature events that engage passionate supporters. Highlighting these efforts were the Trailblaze Challenge which raised over $280,000 to date in a stunning grassroots effort from caring community individuals as well as Walk for Wishes®, a community walk, which will expand from Rock Hill into two additional cities this year, Hilton Head and Greenville. Lastly, The Wish Ball, an annual gala held in the Midlands, connects donors, wish kids and corporate partners during an elegant evening of charitable giving.
Bill Tiller, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish® South Carolina stated, “Our generous donors and our passionate volunteers are at the heart of our success. They, along with our courageous wish kids and their families, are the heroes of the Make-A-Wish South Carolina story. It was an honor and a delight to receive these awards and accept them on their behalf. I look forward to granting the heartfelt wishes of even more children in the coming year.”
The Make-A-Wish® America Global Conference was held in Disneyland® to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Make-A-Wish. During the conference, Make-A-Wish and Disney celebrated 100,000 wishes together.
