On Saturday, April 23 the inaugural Walk For Wishes® fundraiser was held at Gateway Park in Travelers Rest, South Carolina to benefit Make-A-Wish® South Carolina. This first-time event brought together over 100 attendees including wish families, volunteers and community members who successfully raised over $10,000 to help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Participants enjoyed an exciting day which included a 5K walk, awards, children’s entertainment and more.
This family-friendly event, recognizes local wish families and connected community supporters to raise awareness for our important mission. It is a tremendous example of the passionate community living in Greenville county working to share the power of a wish®.
“We are so inspired by the participants at our Walk For Wishes who showed up to support our South Carolina wish kids and their families,” said Bill Tiller, President and CEO. “They participated as teams and they participated as individuals, but most of all, they participated as fundraisers, raising money to help seriously ill children in our communities.”
The event offered an array of activities for families and donors. From photo opportunities to food trucks to music entertainment, there was something for everyone. Children enjoyed face painting and a bounce house. Donors who fundraised over $1,000.00 were featured on the “Walk of Fame.” Awards were given to the Top 3 Fundraisers and Top 3 Teams. Registered walkers who raised more than $100.00 in donations also received a commemorative t-shirt.
Make-A-Wish South Carolina would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous support of the Walk For Wishes: First Citizens Bank, Bank of Travelers Rest and Lollis Metals, Inc.
