Twelve-year-old Haleigh from West Union, South Carolina, loves swimming and watching the television show SpongeBob SquarePants. Diagnosed with congenital liver disorder, Haleigh’s wish to stay at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort®
in Orlando, meet SpongeBob and Patrick, and swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove®
was an extension of her passions and interests.
Haleigh chose her wish due to her love for the water and desire to travel to Florida. She also wanted her family to be able to go on a vacation together, something they had not previously experienced.
At the Nickelodeon Suites Resort, Haleigh was able to meet and take plenty of pictures with SpongeBob and other characters from the show. She also received the characters’ autographs.
On the second day, a trip to Discovery Cove included riding on water slides and swimming with dolphins, which the family described as the best and most enjoyable part of the trip. During their stay, Haleigh and her family were given an extensive tour of Universal Studios that covered every aspect of the park. On the family’s way home to West Union, they made a stop in St. Augustine to enjoy some of the sights.
Haleigh left Orlando with exciting souvenirs like a SpongeBob necklace and stuffed toy, but the best thing the trip provided was an opportunity to build lifelong memories together for Haleigh’s family. "The vacation was perfect and exactly what the family needed," said Haleigh’s mother.
